What is Prayer?

 

Prayer is a communication process that allows us to talk to God! Cell phones and other devices have become a necessity for some people in today’s society. We have Bluetooth devices and talking computers! These are means of communication that allow two or more people to interact, discuss, and respond to one another. He wants us to communicate with Him, like a person-to-person phone call.  Prayer seems complicated to many people, but it is simply talking to God. Prayer is talking to God with the mind and heart, and most often with the voice. It is a response to God's invitation to seek him. God calls every person to prayer. He wants to engage us in a personal relationship, which always starts with a conversation.  We believe in the power of prayer and have continuously been partakers of its benefits and results.

Why should we pray?

 

Prayer opens the door to a real and personal relationship with God. Hebrews 4:14-16 tells the believers that we can pray boldly! As children of the Lord, we have a great High Priest who sits on the right-hand side of the Father, Jesus the Son of God. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses (for he faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin), and now makes intercession for the children of God. So, let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. Nothing ever takes our mighty God by surprise. He is aware of every aspect of our lives (Hebrews 4:13). Take a leap of faith and pour out your heart to the lover of your soul. Position yourself to listen and He will speak. Through prayer, the seeds of intimacy will grow abundantly.
